Carry-On for Cape Verde: International and Island Connections

Plan the international flight and each island connection separately. A bag accepted on the first flight can be too large or too heavy for the next airline. Read the operating carrier and fare on every booking before choosing your bag; old references to Binter CV or an approximate TACV 7 kg allowance are not a substitute for current rules.

Compare the Two Allowances

For easyJet, you must be able to lift and carry the bags yourself. Verify large-cabin-bag entitlement in your booking: an old reference to Hands Free or a particular seat is not sufficient. Check the easyJet allowance for your bag, then make a separate comparison with your island carrier.

CVsky: Count the Additional Items

CVsky's published 6 kg total includes permitted additional personal effects, such as a handbag, camera or portable electronics. Moving a laptop from the main bag into a separate bag does not create extra weight allowance. Measure the packed exterior and weigh everything that counts toward the total.

A 55 cm suitcase does not meet a 45 cm height limit even if it weighs less than 6 kg. A soft bag can be useful only when its packed dimensions actually comply; a litre capacity or product label cannot establish that.

The published Promo, Standard, Flex and Plus fares include a 6 kg hand bag, with checked allowances listed separately. Read the allowance on your own ticket, especially where different carriers or separate bookings are involved.

If the Bag Must Be Checked

Do not plan on free gate handling for oversized or overweight baggage. CVsky says excess can be charged or the bag checked, subject to availability. Confirm the price, capacity and collection point before travel when your bag will not comply.

Keep documents, medication and valuables accessible. If a cabin bag is taken for the hold, tell staff about its batteries and electronics and follow the carrier's dangerous-goods instructions. Do not leave loose batteries or power banks inside a bag sent to the hold.

Pack for the Activities You Booked

Start with clothing for the forecast and your actual activities, then add footwear and a light outer layer if needed. Keep toiletries compact, leave room for purchases and avoid assuming that a sample packing list has a guaranteed final weight. Weigh your own kit after adding chargers and personal items.
