What to Pack

Naples is a warm-weather city with a hot, humid summer. Pack light, breathable layers.

Airport and Transport Tips

Naples Capodichino Airport (NAP) is a compact single-terminal airport about 6 km northeast of the city centre.

• Alibus: The official airport express coach runs every 20 minutes to Piazza Garibaldi (Naples Centrale rail station) and the port. Cost: €5. Journey: approximately 20 minutes.

Getting around the city:

• The historic centre is best explored on foot. Narrow alleys called vicoli are the soul of Naples — a roller bag here is a liability.
• Metro Line 1 (art metro) connects the centre to Mergellina and Piscinola — useful for longer hops.

Day Trips

Pompeii: Take the Circumvesuviana train from Naples Centrale to Pompeii Scavi station (around 40 minutes, €2.80 each way). Wear sunscreen — the site is almost entirely exposed. Bring water.

Amalfi Coast: Ferry from Molo Beverello or Calata di Massa to Positano, Amalfi, or Ravello. Alternatively, SITA buses run from Sorrento along the cliff road — dramatic views, narrow roads, and frequent hairpin bends.
