IndiGo checked baggage: Lite, routes and Stretch

IndiGo Lite includes no checked baggage. Other fares and routes have different allowances, so read your booking before buying a suitcase or extra weight. The general baggage table is not a promise that every IndiGo fare includes a hold bag.

Start with fare, then route

The official baggage FAQ lists different international weights. Its general Stretch FAQ gives 30/40 kg for Stretch/Stretch+, while individual route rows can differ. Do not apply one headline number to every destination.

An airport or onboard upgrade from Lite retains the original Lite baggage allowance under the specific fare terms. A new seat therefore does not automatically provide the standard Stretch checked entitlement.

Buying extra baggage

Open the exact booking and compare the available checked-bag options. Confirm whether the purchase adds weight, pieces or both; save the receipt. The allowance bought for one segment may not cover a separately booked connection. Route, product and purchase stage can change the price, so a generic per-kilogram estimate is not a reliable quote.

Measure and weigh each packed bag. A total weight purchase does not remove the airline's individual-piece or acceptance restrictions. For sports equipment or musical instruments, ask about handling and approval separately from excess weight. The general baggage FAQ and dedicated special-baggage page publish different handling fees; obtain a quote for the actual item.

Infants and connections

The general infant policy gives no checked allowance, one cabin bag up to 7 kg/115 cm and one stroller or pram without charge. Lite is not available for infant bookings. Confirm where equipment is handed over and returned; a free stroller is not a guarantee of delivery at the aircraft door.

For connections, check whether the flights are on one booking and which airline operates each leg. Keep the booking's baggage confirmation available at check-in. Do not assume that an international allowance carries over to a separately purchased domestic flight.

Cabin bag is a separate check

The standard cabin rule is one 55×35×25 cm bag up to 7 kg plus a separate personal article up to 3 kg. Lite permits only one 7 kg cabin bag; regular Stretch/Stretch+ bookings allow a 12 kg main bag. Buying checked weight does not raise cabin weight.
