Jetstar Carry-On Rules: Size, Weight & Fees (2026)
Jetstar Starter: two items sharing 7 kg before 2 February 2027. Business, future JQ rules, family items and checker limits explained.
Starter includes a main cabin bag for travel before 2 February 2027. First check your flight date and operator: Jetstar Airways is JQ, Jetstar Japan is GK.

The small item shares the weight limit; its current numeric size is not published in the reviewed rule. A 6 kg suitcase plus a 2 kg laptop bag exceeds Starter's 7 kg total. A 14 kg individual suitcase is not permitted in Business. A garment bag up to 114 × 60 × 11 cm can replace the main bag under the published conditions.
A purchased +7 kg option can raise the total to 14 kg, still at most two items and 10 kg per item. Availability depends on the route: it is not offered on the listed Australia–Bali services. Check the actual booking before relying on extra weight. Fees vary by route and purchase stage; there is no universal AUD12/25 charge.
JQ flights from 2 February 2027
The normal Starter inclusion becomes one 40 × 30 × 20 cm underseat bag. Priority Carry-on adds a 56 × 36 × 23 cm overhead bag, subject to availability or bundle inclusion. No individual bag may exceed 10 kg. Business includes both pieces.
For bookings made before 5 August 2026, future JQ flights receive Priority Carry-on without an extra charge, except group bookings. Outbound and return flights can follow different rules. GK keeps the 7/14 kg system; do not apply JQ's new rule to Japan automatically.
Infants, strollers and security
Current lap infants have no separate cabin allowance: essentials fit within the adult allowance. Own-seat infants receive the standard allowance. Eligible child items can be checked free. A current cabin stroller must fold within 56 × 36 × 23 cm, be covered and count within the existing allowance. A cabin car seat requires an own seat, advance contact and approval; GK does not accept cabin car seats.
For future travel, the stroller page gives a 44 cm width while general overhead guidance gives 36 cm. Confirm that stroller exception with Jetstar; a larger ordinary suitcase is not established as permitted. International-terminal security normally requires containers up to 100 ml in one clear resealable bag, with stated exceptions.

Enable the second bag and enter both packed weights. Check both bags together applies the current 7 kg shared Starter cap or the modeled 14 kg Business cap with a separate 10 kg cap per item. Current personal-item dimensions are unconfirmed, so a passing combined weight cannot confirm the complete set. The checker does not select a future travel date or a paid +7 kg upgrade; confirm those conditions and all pieces in your booking.
