Read the exact fare name on your ticket. Lufthansa's standard checked-bag size is 158 cm for height + width + depth. Economy and Premium Economy bags normally have a 23 kg per-piece allowance; Business and First use 32 kg per piece. The number of included bags varies within each cabin.

Size, weight and excess baggage
Add the three packed outside measurements. For example, 75 + 50 + 30 = 155 cm, within the standard 158 cm total. Weigh each piece independently; two 23 kg allowances do not make one 46 kg suitcase acceptable.

Find the actual bag price
Use My Bookings or Lufthansa's official baggage tools with the route, fare, bag count, dimensions and weight. Check both directions. A first bag on a Light fare, an additional standard bag and an overweight bag are different purchases; a single universal price would be misleading. Local taxes can also apply to excess charges.
If you need a heavy or large piece, confirm its acceptance and price through the airline or your booking agent. The cabin checker on this site cannot quote a checked-bag fee or determine hold entitlements.
Status, infants and transfers
- Lufthansa lists intercontinental Light-fare benefits for HON Circle, Senator and Star Alliance Gold. Its free-baggage page limits registration of those benefits to the check-in counter and lists excluded destinations; booking the corresponding bag online may incur a charge. Confirm eligibility before paying.
- Babies aged 0–2 normally have one 23 kg, 158 cm checked piece, except on Economy Light and short-/medium-haul Economy Basic. Child-equipment benefits are separate.
- Through-checking is subject to the ticket, airport, operational and customs conditions. Ask where to collect the bag and check its destination tag.
- On multi-airline journeys, the applicable checked-baggage rules may depend on the ticket's governing carrier. This differs from checking each operating airline's cabin limits; a Lufthansa flight number does not settle every case.
