SAS Carry-On: Economy Light and Route-Based Allowances

SAS main cabin bags measure 55×40×23 cm and weigh up to 8 kg each. Every fare includes one underseat bag of 40×30×15 cm, maximum 18 litres. No separate small-bag weight is published in the reviewed page; this is not an unlimited-weight promise.

Fare and route

Check the current ticket and My Trips. Only Economy Light can purchase an additional main bag; fares already including one cannot buy another. Fees vary with route and purchase time. A checked-bag purchase does not create cabin entitlement. Oversize or overweight cabin baggage must go in the hold with applicable charges.

Using the checker

Basic represents Light within Europe. For Light outside Europe select Selected class/Economy to assess the included bag. Use the paid-cabin option only with a valid purchase. Premium and Business results assess one bag at 8 kg; they do not select the route or add the second piece automatically. There is no universal 18 kg Business allowance or observed tolerance.

Infants and equipment

Infants under two have no own cabin baggage. They receive one 23 kg checked bag except on Light, plus a folding stroller and car seat. Children 2–11 have their fare allowance plus a stroller up to 23 kg and car seat. Check protective-case and airport handling conditions; aircraft-door return is not guaranteed.

A compact stroller up to 55×40×23 cm or umbrella stroller up to 20×20×100 cm can use entitled cabin space. On E195 aircraft, only umbrella strollers can travel in the cabin. Otherwise check the stroller under the applicable free equipment allowance. An approved child seat needs an appropriate seat; contact SAS for an infant seat purchase.

Follow current airport instructions for liquids, medicines and baby food. Measure the packed exterior and weigh each bag before leaving.
