EgyptAir Carry-on Rules: 8 kg, Size and Class Allowances

EGYPTAIR's standard cabin allowance is 55 × 40 × 23 cm, totalling 118 cm, and 8 kg per piece. Economy includes one piece; Business lists two. Check the route and operating carrier before applying this table.

Route exceptions

For flights to/from/within the US, EGYPTAIR limits the allowance to one cabin bag plus one personal item. On smaller aircraft, the second Business piece may need hold carriage. For departures from South Africa, the published rule is 56×36×23 cm, 115 cm total and 7 kg per piece; Economy permits one piece and Business two, plus a slim laptop bag. Confirm the applicable conditions before packing.

A handbag or laptop is mentioned as a personal item, but the current website does not give a universal separate numerical size or weight for it. Do not assume a second full backpack is included. A codeshare flight can follow the operating carrier's rules.

Measure both size and weight

55 + 40 + 23 = 118 cm. A 56×40×23 cm case exceeds both the standard length and total. An 8.5 kg bag exceeds the standard weight by 0.5 kg even if its dimensions fit.

The bag checker uses the standard allowance; it cannot select the South Africa or aircraft exception for you. Use the route checker to compare operating carriers, and obtain extra-baggage prices through your actual booking.

Children and equipment

The infant table lists one checked piece up to 10 kg and 115 cm total, or 23 kg and 115 cm to/from the USA or Canada. Its hand-luggage column lists a folding stroller, not an extra 8 kg infant cabin bag. Baby food and necessities for the flight are permitted. The adult-and-child table applies to a child occupying a seat.

A car seat used on board requires the appropriate child fare, an approved label, width no greater than 41 cm and acceptance by EGYPTAIR. Rear-facing seats are excluded, as are car seats in B787-9 Business. Confirm stroller handover/return and any hold-carriage charge; do not assume a universal free car-seat rule.

Liquids and power banks

EGYPTAIR publishes 100 ml containers in one transparent resealable litre bag, about 20×20 cm, with medical, baby-product and dietary exceptions. Check the airports' security instructions separately.

The current power-bank page permits one labelled power bank in cabin baggage, stored in the seat pocket or under the seat. It prohibits onboard use, charging and carriage in checked baggage. Its English capacity wording uses “100 watts”; confirm the accepted capacity with EGYPTAIR rather than treating a power-output label as an energy limit.
