TAP Air Portugal Carry-On Rules: Fare Classes (2026)

TAP Economy includes one main cabin bag up to 55 × 40 × 25 cm and 10 kg, plus one personal item up to 40 × 30 × 15 cm and 2 kg. The cabin allowance does not exclude the main bag on Discount. Checked baggage is a separate fare benefit.

Class and route

The personal item has its own 2 kg limit; unused kilograms cannot simply be transferred to an overweight main bag. Measure the packed exterior conservatively. The reviewed page does not separately define wheels and handles.

The TAP checker compares one bag. Its Business selection keeps the conservative one-piece quantity because it cannot identify your destination. Confirm a two-piece entitlement against the route table. Use the route checker for connecting operators.

Status, storage and charges

TAP describes a minimum two-piece cabin allowance, each up to 10 kg, for qualifying Navigator, Miles&Go Gold or Star Alliance Gold travellers on First/Business journeys with two or more member airlines. Do not apply that exception to every Economy booking.

Even compliant luggage may be moved to the hold without charge when cabin storage is full. Remove valuables, electronics and medication first; TAP describes collection at the destination baggage belt. Priority is not a guarantee of overhead space.

Travelling with children

An infant under two has no ordinary cabin-bag allowance, but the accompanying adult may take one extra item with essential baby care supplies. Children aged two to eleven follow their class allowance. A qualifying stroller can travel in the hold free for a child up to five; a cabin stroller within 55 × 40 × 25 cm and 10 kg replaces the normal allowance. Confirm approval before using a car seat onboard.
