TAROM — carry-on: size, weight and exceptions

TAROM publishes 8 kg TOTAL for the main cabin bag and personal item. The permitted size depends on the aircraft; the Boeing box does not apply automatically to an ATR 72.

The personal item shares the weight

A handbag or briefcase is included in the same 8 kg total, not an extra unrestricted allowance. The reviewed page does not give a separate numeric personal-item box. For example, a 7 kg main bag and 2 kg personal item total 9 kg and exceed the published allowance. A single-bag result cannot approve that combination.

Aircraft and connections

Confirm the aircraft for every segment. A 55×40×20 cm bag can fit the Boeing rule while exceeding the ATR 72 box. A smaller total sum does not excuse an individual side exceeding its limit.

TAROM states that these rules apply to its own operated aircraft. Partner-operated flights may use other limits, including within SkyTeam. Do not carry the first flight’s cabin allowance over to the whole itinerary without checking each operator.

Costs and security

The reviewed hand-baggage page does not establish a universal excess charge, a 12 kg Business allowance or an enforcement tolerance. Confirm checked baggage separately in your fare; it does not enlarge the cabin allowance. TAROM’s security page describes the 100 ml/1-litre rule with medicine, special-diet, baby-food and sealed duty-free exceptions; follow the current airport procedure.

Before you pack

Measure the fully packed bag, including protruding pockets, handles and wheels. Weigh it with all accessories. A published limit is not a tolerance: a bag above it is not made compliant by travelling in Business or boarding early.

Check your bag. This checker assesses a single bag. It does not choose an aircraft or itinerary, add the weights of several bags, or guarantee cabin space. Confirm the operating carrier and applicable allowance for every segment. Keep documents, essential medicines and valuables accessible if staff need to check your main bag.
