Porter Airlines Carry-On Rules & Bag Size Guide 2026

Porter’s Basic fare includes one personal item only. Standard, Flexible, Freedom, Navigate and Ultimate include a main cabin bag as well. Check the fare on your booking before using a size result as proof of free carriage.

Sizes and fare allowance

The current allowance page and baggage FAQ do not publish a numeric weight cap. That does not establish unlimited weight: confirm any applicable restriction with Porter. The former 10 kg, 15 kg and 6.8 kg claims are not supported by these reviewed pages.

Measure the packed exterior, with protrusions, and check the airport sizer. The reviewed page does not explicitly define wheels and handles. Bags must also stow safely; compliance with dimensions does not reserve overhead space.

Basic and Basic Express

Basic does not include a standard carry-on or GatePorter service. The official FAQ describes Basic Express, purchased during web check-in or at the airport on the day of travel, as adding a standard carry-on and electronic boarding pass. Check availability and the actual price. A checked-bag payment or unrelated priority benefit is not the same product.

GatePorter and excess bags

GatePorter transfers eligible bags to the hold; it is not an oversized-bag allowance. Some main bags are returned at the baggage belt, including US arrivals at Toronto-City and Chicago-Midway. Keep your passport, medication and valuables with you. Oversized bags may be checked for a fee; no universal CAD 25–50 or 35/55 price is established here.

Children and security

A lap infant under two may have an additional diaper bag. A child or infant with a reserved seat uses the applicable standard allowance. A collapsible stroller and car seat can be carried free as checked or eligible GatePorter items. Non-collapsible strollers and those over 50 lb must be checked; confirm handling at the airport.

Porter publishes ordinary-liquid guidance of containers up to 100 ml in one resealable one-litre bag, with medical and infant exceptions. Check the departure and transfer security authority for particular items. A cabin-size result does not approve restricted contents.
